Brief: This project challenged me to spend 30 minutes each day over the course of 30 days to develop a unique series of designs that built upon a specific skill. The project I chose was to create an original deck of playing cards inspired by characters from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The goal was to use minimal references to existing character art and focus instead on the traditional aesthetic of card designs.
Solve: The deck was designed by blending traditional playing card motifs with modern superhero iconography, capturing the essence of Spider-Man characters while maintaining the recognizable structure of a card deck. By focusing on card design elements like symmetry, layout, and style, the project aimed to balance the bold, dynamic personalities of the characters with the classic, formal look of playing cards, resulting in a product that appeals to both fans of the film and card game enthusiasts.
